The Corricella is the oldest
marina in Procida.
Very peculiar and suggestive, it seems a small crèche
mirroring in the sea.
The harbour dates back to the 17th century and the Corricella
is characterized by a very particular architecture.
The houses are built one beside the other, one above the other,
to form a single block.
They have arches, typical balconies (called vefi), external
steps, windows.
The Corricella can be reached only from the
sea or through the flight of steps such as the Gradinata
del Pennino, accessible from Via San Rocco, and the Gradinata
Scura, accessible from Via Marcello Scotti.
The Corricella is truly peculiar and unique.
One can walk along the lanes, be completely immersed in the
silence (motor vehicles are forbidden), watch the fishermen
repairing their nets, smell the scent of the sea, perceive
the simplicity of this life - an unforgettable experience.
Recently Marina Corricella has been the set
for important films such as "The Postman", by the
unforgettable Massimo Troisi and starring Mariagrazia Cucinotta,
"The talented Mr Ripley" by the American director
Antony Minghella, "Francesca e Nunziata" by Lina
Wertmüller, "Mariti in affitto" by Ilaria Borrelli.
